Vinyl Shop Continues To Grow
Catching up with ‘Music Mike’ from the Vinyl Stand/Shop….

“There’s a 2020 vision to transform the stock holding at Stand A6 within The Warehouse Antiques & Collectibles establishment at Setchey, just outside of King’s Lynn. Feedback gained from regular customers proves that the stand is being treated as if it were a proper record shop!

Armed with this encouraging information, that’s precisely how I intend to carry on doing and that is to supply value for money records but also have a focus on niche, collectable and original issues - retaining the valued mainstream music but increase my stock to include more items in these fields.

I started collecting records when I was 11 years old, I’m 60 now so I am passionate about vinyl and I know a lot of other people are too, so my stand aims to meet the needs of both the old established collector and those who have acquired a new interest in vinyl that has seen it come round again after been away for so long.

All stock is carefully examined for marks and play quality. Each record having been machine cleaned, provided with an anti-static inner sleeve. Outer sleeves are also re-glued and clean where appropriate, all play tested to ensure my customers are getting precisely what they pay for which is a good quality, valued products.

So it is envisaged that through feedback from customers I am seeing what their requirements maybe, providing more in the collectable market, such as The White Album and Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club Band, Rolling Stones, such as Let It Bleed and Beggars Banquet and 70’s progressive rock music such as Genesis, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Wishbone Ash, Free – there additionally seems to be an appetite for good guitar orientated musicians such as Gary Moore and Pat Travers, so I will be concentrating initially to expand into what my customers want. However, there is a good desire for 1980’s music synth and Brit-pop or similar.

The singles remain as ever popular with customers covering mainstream pop, rock, soul and disco from the 60’s to the 80’s. These will be regularly rotated to provide interest for those who like to buy them.

As well as vinyl I have found there is an interest from people who like to play music, so have been selling guitars (Electric and Acoustic) and associated amplifiers to several customers on a regular basis. This is something that I will continue to do and satisfy customer requests for specific items like Ibeniz, popular in the Heavy Metal genre.

However, not wishing to neglect other customers who have interests in other genres such as Jazz and Easy Listening, so I will make sure that when the expansion comes I will be organising my stock into genre orientated groupings for ease of interest and streamlined access.

More news soon…and keep your requests coming – if you ask, I’ll endeavour to track it down!
